Sniff, sniff…milkshake week is over! I can't believe it. Be sure to scroll all the way to down and click over to all of the great milkshakes our friends shared today, especially Lindsay's Cherry Lambic Beer Milkshakes (woah!). And the giveaway, the giveaway!

This milkshake is the shake that started it all for me. I wanted to make fried banana milkshakes a few months ago…inspired by my brown butter peach milkshakes from last year.

Fried Banana Milkshake from thelittlekitchen.net

I love love bananas. Banana candy (think laffy taffy), banana bread, banana muffins, bananas in smoothies, bananas with peanut butter, everything. So why not bananas in a milkshake but kicked up several notches?

Brown butter is so pretty, isn't it? It only takes a few minutes to brown butter. Don't take your eyes off that pan!

Look at that…

I even scooped some of the brown butter and put it on top and served it with the milkshake, because brown butter is life and I had to.

These shakes are little because they are rich and you need them in your life. Boom!

Ahhh, it's still milkshake week and I'm so hopped up on milkshakes! 🙂 I'm excited to share this one with you. A while back, we ended up at Outback for dinner. Their dessert menu had these mini milkshakes and I had to order one. Guess what? It was amazing. I was trying to figure out how they made it, I looked over at Curtis and said they must have used that instant cappuccino powder you can buy at the grocery store. I told him I wanted to try to make it at home soon.

What is it with milkshakes and always enjoying them at restaurants or out? I love milkshakes and always feel like they are a lot of work to make at home, they seem like a luxury item…don't you agree? But honestly, if you have a good blender and the right ingredients, they are so easy to make at home!

Cappuccino Milkshake from thelittlekitchen.net #MilkshakeWeek

I found a French vanilla cappuccino powder (basically instant), I'm sure you can use whatever flavor you'd like (think mocha!).

Cappuccino Milkshake from thelittlekitchen.net #MilkshakeWeek

It's super easy and takes seconds to blend together.

Cappuccino Milkshake from thelittlekitchen.net #MilkshakeWeek

Amazing, amazing! A milkshake with a cappuccino flavor and no need to turn on your coffee machine. I couldn't believe that this worked the first time too…it's so good! I know you'll love it! Perfect for a little pick me up in the summer. 🙂 🙂

It's officially milkshake week! Lindsay and I have been working on this for a while…queue the evil laugh. This milkshake, it's crazy right? But not really, chocolate and peanut butter go together so well…but with fudgy brownies, it's so perfect.

I cut up brownies that are completely cooled into cubes. Crumble some of them for topping the milkshakes (really small too, you want them to be able to fit through a straw).

Peanut Butter and Brownie Milkshakes from thelittlekitchen.net #MilkshakeWeek

Add the brownies, peanut butter, ice cream and milk to the blender.

Peanut Butter and Brownie Milkshakes from thelittlekitchen.net #MilkshakeWeek

Pulse until completely blended. By the way, I love the KitchenAid Diamond blender for making milkshakes. Creamy and rich and thick just like milkshakes should be!

Peanut Butter and Brownie Milkshakes from thelittlekitchen.net #MilkshakeWeek

These milkshakes are super rich and are amazing. You can't go wrong with the peanut butter and the fudgy chocolateyness of the brownies are just perfect.

I even made these again this past weekend because our air conditioning went out…perfect for the super hot weather we were getting here in Florida. I know you'll love these if you make them! I can't wait to share more milkshake recipes with you this week!

Growing up, my siblings and I loved to eat fresh fruit. When I was a little girl, I would bring a mango, an apple or a peach to my Mom and ask her to cut it up for me to eat. Gone in 20 seconds is exactly what happened because there are six kids in my family!

Fast forward to today, we love fresh fruit. I love cooking and baking with it, Curtis is like me when I was a kid, he likes cutting it up and enjoying it. And shockingly enough, our dogs like to enjoy fresh fruit too. Angel knows when I'm cutting up fresh fruit or vegetables, she comes over and begs for it. I probably squealed like a pig when a box of Oregold® peaches arrived from Harry & David.

Why? Because I love the Harry & David brand. I remember my Mom would get these wonderful packages during the holidays with pears, gifts from her clients. Those were like gold to us! And their guarantee, the best in the business. Your complete satisfaction is guaranteed. Last year, I surprised Curtis when I ordered a ham & turkey from Harry & David. It was one of his Christmas presents. Why? Because he loves ham and I don't eat it so it was perfect for him!

The ripest peach is highest on the tree. from thelittlekitchen.net

The quotation: the ripest peach is highest on the tree…is so true isn't it? Low hanging fruit might be easy to attain but it might not be the best. A great motto for life.

Aren't they pretty? Almost too perfect to eat. They taste amazing and just melt in your mouth. I told Curtis I want to make peach milkshakes with these peaches. He said just put them on ice cream and enjoy them. I can't let it be. And I couldn't just do a regular peach milkshake.

Brown Butter Peach Milkshakes from thelittlekitchen.net

I browned some butter. It only takes a few minutes to brown them.

Brown Butter Peach Milkshakes from thelittlekitchen.net

Add brown sugar and the peaches.

Brown Butter Peach Milkshakes from thelittlekitchen.net

Cook them for a few more minutes and then let them cool before making your milkshake. Save that brown butter-sugar sauce and…

add that to the top of your milkshake along with some cookie crumbs. Makes me feel like I'm drinking a peach pie!

Brown Butter Peach Milkshakes Recipe

  • 3 Tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 Harry & David Oregold® Peaches sliced into wedges
  • 2 Tablespoons light brown sugar
  • 1 cup milk
  • 4 large scoops of vanilla ice cream
  • 4 vanilla cookies crushed (I used Golden Oreos)

Instructions

  • Add butter to a non-stick pan and melt on medium. Cook butter until it's browned, about 3 to 5 minutes. Add brown sugar and mix. Add Oregold® peach wedges and allow to cook for 5 to 10 minutes, flipping over peaches halfway through. Set aside and allow to cool for about 20 to 25 minutes.
  • Add milk, ice cream and peaches to a blender and pulse until well blended. Pour into two glasses and top with cookie crumbs and the remaining brown butter from the pan. Serve with straws and enjoy!

And if you want to skip the milkshakes, add those brown butter peaches on top of ice cream. Ooooh to die for!

Oregold® peaches are in season right now and are available from Harry & David…they are also a part of their fruit of the month club…a club I so need to join.

I want to know…what do you like to make with peaches?

I'm working with McCormick once again this year for Halloween treats! I thought I would change it from last year's cupcakes to a drink…a blood red drink…creeppyyyy and chocolatey! I love love love red velvet (okay I'm obsessed with it, are you seeing a pattern here? I have a lot of obsessions). Anyways, to make this milkshake over the top and even more rich – I added cake mix hence the name red velvet cake batter milkshakes!

McCormick red food color is the best! It doesn't add a funky taste to your recipes – I use it all the time for red velvet cupcakes and if you get it on your hands (which I do every time), it comes out after a few hand washings.

Enjoy! And umm, I know you'll thank me!

Red Velvet Cake Batter Milkshakes

Servings 2 shakes

Ingredients

  • 1 cup milk
  • 15-18 drops McCormick Red Food Color
  • 1/2 Tablespoon chocolate syrup
  • 4-5 big scoops of chocolate ice cream
  • 4 Tablespoons red velvet cake mix

Instructions

  • In a measuring cup, mix milk and red food color together thoroughly. Add chocolate syrup and whisk. Add ice cream and milk chocolate mixture into a blender along with the cake mix. Pulse or use milkshake setting on your blender. Serve immediately.
  • *What to do with the leftover cake mix? Save it in a plastic zippered bag for those cake batter milkshake cravings or before measuring it out, divide it in half and follow instructions on the box (using half of the ingredients of course) and bake 12 cupcakes with it. I do that all the time when I don't really need 24 cupcakes.
